How it works

Simple on the surface. Solid underneath.

Here's how we get your website live, and what happens every time you publish a change.

Your project

Four steps to launch

Most projects take about 3–4 weeks from first call to launch. With clear, complete requirements — your pages, content and photos ready — we can launch in as little as a week.

  1. 01

    Discovery

A call to understand your business, your audience and the pages you need. You get a clear quote.

    Week 1
  2. 02

    Design & build

We design your site, build it and load your content and photos. You see progress on a private preview.

    Weeks 1–3
  3. 03

    Review

You review every page and send feedback. Revision rounds are included in your plan.

    Week 3–4
  4. 04

    Launch & training

We switch on HTTPS, connect your own domain if you've added one, and show your team how to edit and publish.

The big idea

Your editor and your website are kept apart

Most website tools run your public site and your admin panel on the same server. If one is slow or attacked, so is the other. HUGways separates them.

You edit in the HUGways editor. When you publish, we build a brand-new, optimized version of your site and deliver it through our global network. Your visitors never touch the editor or the systems behind it, so there's nothing for them to break into.

  • Your public site has no admin login to break into
  • Traffic spikes are handled by our global network, not a single server
  • Every version of your content is saved in version history

What happens in the next minute

You press Publish. Here's the whole journey, usually done in about a minute.

1. Saved to history

Your changes are recorded as a new version, with your name on it.

2. Built fresh

The whole site is rebuilt and optimized. Images are resized for every screen.

3. Uploaded

The new version is sent to our hosting. Anything unchanged is skipped.

4. Live worldwide

Our network refreshes and serves the new version from locations near your visitors.

Watch your publish go live

Every publish shows up in your Deploy Queue, so you always know where it stands — waiting, in progress or done.

  • A live progress bar with an estimated time left
  • A clear history of every publish and who requested it
  • Filter by status or environment in one click

Staging and production — and why it matters

Each site has two copies, each at its own address. Staging is where you check a change exactly as it will look. Production is your real website.

Changes move forward one step at a time, so your live site only ever gets work that's been seen and approved.

Technical questions

For the curious

What is a static website?

A website made of ready-built HTML files rather than pages assembled by a server on every visit. It's faster, cheaper to host and much harder to break into. Read more.

Where is my site hosted?

On our managed, secure hosting platform with global delivery. We handle the hosting and your HTTPS certificates. Connecting your own domain name is an optional add-on.

Can a developer work on my site's code?

Yes. Developers can work on your site with normal tools, and their code changes sit alongside your content edits in the same version history.

How long does a publish take?

Usually about a minute. Images that haven't changed are reused, so later publishes are faster than the first.
